If you want something completely screwed up, something to be as inefficient as possible, something to cost 2,3, TEN times what it should cost just let the government run it. That much is true even if this WSJ article has the numbers wrong. But, if the author is correct,how in the world does anyone make a deal like this? You have the government guaranteed monopoly, you have the personnel, the distribution capabilities and you are the ONLY one with the right to the mailboxes. You could have made any deal, could actually have a deal that would make tens of millions, hundreds of millions for the Post Office but, instead you make a deal wherein you are willing to lose $1.46 per package delivered?
