The Enduring Awfulness of Hillary Clinton

Yesterday the New York Times reported that Hillary Clinton allegedly “chose to shield” a “top adviser” from sexual harassment allegations. The story itself is rather simple. A woman accused her faith adviser, a man by the name of Burns Strider, of sexual harassment. After a “brief” investigation, her campaign manager recommended that he be terminated. Clinton refused to fire him and instead docked his pay and ordered him to attend counseling. His victim was reassigned.
In 2016 Strider joined a different part of the Clinton-industrial complex, a pro-Clinton organization called Correct the Record, where he was fired for, yes, harassing a female subordinate. How does Hillary respond to the Times story? With this absurd tweet:
A story appeared today about something that happened in 2008. I was dismayed when it occurred, but was heartened the young woman came forward, was heard, and had her concerns taken seriously and addressed. — Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) January 27, 2018
This is classic Clinton. First, she notes the date — as if that’s remotely relevant to whether she did the right thing. I know the #MeToo movement is grabbing headlines, but sexual harassment has been a prominent public issue for decades, and no one should know that better than a Clinton. Then, she moves on to basic progressive word salad. Justice matters more than whether the victim was “heard” or “taken seriously,” and the Times report creates serious doubt that justice was done. But why would we expect justice from a Clinton? Here’s a woman who rose to power in part by helping quell the “bimbo eruptions” that constantly surrounded her husband, exploited the public sympathy after his philandering came fully to light, and now seems to have — to use the Times’s word — “shielded” a harasser in her first presidential campaign.
Oh, and this is only one of the countless scandals that surround one of the most corrupt and dishonest figures in recent American political life. One final note, is there anything more ridiculous than her continued efforts to remain relevant? Here she is giving a (prompted) shout-out to “all the activist bitches supporting bitches.” Please:

And to think, there are members of the #resistance who still think they were on the side of the angels in 2016. Nothing could be further from the truth.
