For many, many years now many have attended churches and revivals and heard preachers like Billy Graham call them to repentance and many have “walked the aisle” and made professions of faith and so believed they were “saved”. This is no different than being a born a Jew in Jesus’s day and believing you were not condemned because you could claim to be a child of Abraham. Jesus warns the Jews of this many time but the first warning in the New Testament comes in Luke 3:8 where John the Baptist warns, “ Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.”
Having Abraham as your father does the Jews as much good as walking the aisle, saying the sinner’s prayer, being baptized, making a profession of faith, confessing your sins or, if you are Catholic, believing the sacraments or the “extra unneeded ‘goodness'” of the others (one of the most ridiculous, unbiblical and idiotic things ever concocted by man) being applied to you is doing for the deceived and lost of the last 20 centuries.
