I believe this to be the only explanation for the behavior of men. The only explanation for why men believe lies in the face if irrefutable facts. For how else are men able to deny what is undeniable? How else can it be that facts mean nothing to so many?
And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. – Revelation 12:9
If ever you are troubled understanding why men do what they do, why they have always done the same thing, why man’s inhumanity to man is the norm you need look no further than this verse. Now, some might say this is the last book of the Bible so let us look at the first book where immediately following the creation we read in chapter 3:
Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” … Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
So, from the very first to the very last man has been deceived by the “deceiver of the whole world” and thus he worships the created rather than the Creator and so by this deception his mind is warped and he behaves as he always has and he cannot change save he be shown mercy by the Creator.
