The U.S. Post Office is one of the largest corporations in the world i this is what they reported today, 8/10 –
“The Postal Service on Thursday reported a quarterly loss of $2.1 billion, compared to a $1.6 billion loss in the same period ending June 30 last year. That came after double-digit growth in package delivery was unable to offset drop-offs in letter mail, which makes up more than 70 percent of total postal revenue.
Quarterly revenue came to $16.7 billion, a decline of $1 billion from the same period last year.”
This is what UPS reported –
“The world’s largest package delivery company said quarterly revenue at its core U.S. domestic package service rose 8 percent to $9.7 billion.
Often seen as a bellwether of U.S. economic activity, the Atlanta-based company posted second-quarter net income of $1.4 billion or $1.58 per share, up nearly 8 percent from $1.3 billion or $1.43 per share a year earlier. Analysts had expected earnings per share of $1.47, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.”
So lets see, a non-profit company run by the geniuses of gov’t LOST $2.1 billion in ONE QUARTER on $16.7 BILLION in SALES.
Another filthy, capitalist, for-profit company in the same business MADE $1.4 BILLION in PROFIT in ONE QUARTER on only $9.7 BILLION in SALES.
So what do we have here? A disgusting capitalist company with only 57% of the revenue managed to SQUEEZE out $3.5 BILLION more in profit than a much larger company run by government geniuses.
And people want these same incompetent government people to be responsible for their health care? Much, much better we let UPS run the health care system.
